Herceg Novi
One of the most beautifully located cities anywhere in the world, Herzeg Novi is situated on gently sloping hills under a grey-faced limestone massif, Orien, while facing out to the open seas at the mouth of the Boka Kotorska Fjord.
Evenings are dramatic with long fingers of golden sunshine reaching over the city’s numerous forts (Spanish, Italian and Turkish) from the sea, as well as from Konavale valley. Novi, as locals like to call it, is easy to drive past, but well worth venturing into with its charming old town and clock tower; old railway station turned cinema on the waterfront; the latter, which stretches around the harmonious bay of Igalo, and lined with shops, restaurants and evening strollers. From Lustica, you can catch boats from Miriste, Zanjice and Rose daily and only takes a few minutes on a relaxing boat ride.
